Another beautiful but slightly cold morning greeted us at The Snakepit as players arrived for what we hoped would be our third consecutive win against the bottom of the ladder, Brunswick Renegades. After a narrow win against Bulleen Templestowe and a week off, the girls had a very focussed week on the training track and coaching staff felt as though we had addressed a number of ‘deficient’ areas in terms of skills.

It was a cold start against Bulleen Templestowe down at Ted Ajani reserve and we were hoping to put together a back to back win.

The girls went out hard in the first quarter and managed to snatch the lead with an early goal. It was a bit of a scrappy start with the dew on the ground and the ball being more slippery than we were used to but a strong back line managed to keep the opponent scoreless for the whole quarter.

The once hallowed turf of Collingwood FC’s Victoria Park greeted our girls with a strong, swirling wind and sunny, blue skies on Saturday morning. A beautifully manicured, full-sized footy ground awaited us at this historic venue and once again we were lucky to have good conditions for footy (except for the pesky ever direction changing breeze).

Men Rd 5 – Westbourne | Women Rd 2 – De La Salle

It was a frustrating day all round for the Cobras on Saturday, with the Women putting up a solid fight and showing signs of improvement but going down against De La. The Reserves and Seniors missed some of the basics and were lucky the opposition didn’t hit more of their targets in front of goal.

Weekend preview

Women: Hawthorn at The Snakepit, 11:20am, 3rd round lucky! Go Cobs!

Men: Swinburne away at St. James Park.

Round 2 2017 – South Melbourne

What a day at the Snake Pit on Saturday! Both the reserves and seniors posted huge wins over South Melbourne, giving the Bloods a bath of their own, which was followed by a fantastic night as the trivia night was held. The women played the second of their grading games against a strong opponent in Old Camberwell on Saturday morning though were unable to get the win.

Thanks to all who attended the Trivia Night on Saturday, we had a packed house! Congratulations to all that won prizes across the course of the evening, we hope to see everyone at future social events.

Round 4 2016

On Saturday the Cobras ventured just down the road to St James Park in Hawthorn to take on local rivals in Swinburne University. The seniors were very lucky to get over the line by 3 points, courtesy of Mitch Szabo kicking a goal with about a minute left on the clock. The reserves had another tough day on the field, and were outplayed all game by the Razorbacks.
