The Fleming family is one of the great Canterbury FC families. The father, the late Pat Fleming was for years on the committee, trainer and Life member. His youngest son Dale, a star forward for the club, already shortlisted for the legends team. Middle son Ross, was a more than serviceable player for the club, over many years, and is a Life member.
The oldest brother Mark came up through the clubs juniors. His talent was such that he was asked by Hawthorn to train in their Eyas special development squad, for the most talented young players in their zone. Mark returned to Canterbury, and like many, was originally a key forward, before switching to the back line, where he won multiple Best & Fairests.
Mark was built very similar to brother Dale in height and size, and was a player who was a very strong mark, good kick with a straight ahead style. When Mark ran out of the back line opposition players cleared a path. Mark was a key member of our 1991 premiership team and is the latest player shortlisted for our Legends team.
