Hopefully everyone got through last weeks weather and enjoyed the bye last weekend, and are ready for the clubs last home game this weekend.
The week before the bye saw the Cobras travel to Jordan Reserve to take on Chadstone. The results went as expected, with Canterbury running out easy winners in both games, though for the reserves it wasn't until the second half that the gap opened up as Chadstone showed plenty of fight.

With only 3 rounds of regular season games left til finals, the Canterbury reserves headed out to Jordan Reserve to take on a spirited Chadstone in their 50th celebratory year jerseys of red and white stripes on a gloomy August day.
They came out of the blocks hard, kicking the first 2 goals of the game down wind with only 16 Cobras on the field due to an angry coach punishing the 6 players who were late to the ground with an early seat on the pine. With Mitchy Szabo back in the team after a shoulder injury, he was on fire from the get go, providing a real headache for Chadstone to match up on with his lightning speed and terrific vertical leap. We went in to the quarter time break 2 goals up with signs of complacency creeping into our game. The second term saw much of the same, as downhill skiing was evident and an inexperienced midfield giving Chadstone way too much leverage from the stoppages with Gash Hutchison winning every single tap.
After regrouping at half time, we set ourselves the second half to go back to our structures and be ruthless in the way we ran out the game. And to the boys credit that's exactly what they did. We piled on 13 goals 6pts to Chadstones 1 goal 3pts to run out comfortable winners by 108pts and hold onto second spot on the ladder.
Best players for the day were Mitchy Szabs and Hummer who kicked 13 goals between them, Crawford gave us some run and drive off half back, Gashman won just about every tap and kicked a nice goal to finish off his game, and Straughnie, Solarlord, Clunks, Strater, Dricoll, Farmer, Davis, Woody and Dennis all did their job and made dad proud. Now to have a big week on the track to work on our fitness and game style with only 2 rounds to go.

Round 15 found us wandering out to Jordan Reserve in Mt Waverly to take on Chadstone.
It was important for us to get our game back on track as we’d been a bit sloppy over the past few weeks with our game plan.
Going into the game without our captain, VC and DVC left the door open for Scooter to take on the reigns for the first time. Missing these guys as well as the Fridge, Tickles meant that plenty of guys were being given the opportunity to play senior footy in the run towards finals. The ball movement was very good, some genuine leg speed out of the backline gave the forwards reward for their leads with Lowden kicking 9, Buckets 5, Baker 4 and 3 to Willow. Our objective to get all senior players a goal was achieved 10 min into the 3rd Q when the Gates Bro’s worked together deep (David as the decoy) to get Richard on the board. 12 goal scorers for the day and Lowden giving off his 10th to the captain of the day reflected a great team effort.
Hunter found his Mojo coming of the half back line to put on a display for his GF watching her first game, the mids really worked hard with sublime leg speed, our run and draw through the corridor was close to the best I’ve seen at the club.
Chaddy hot-dog rating 7.5 (in case you were wondering)..
With 2 home and away games to go, a win agonist Sth Mornington this week will see us undefeated at the Snake Pit for season 2015, then off to Westbourne to prepare ourselves for a finals series that we have been waiting for…
