The Hoskin brothers were almost identical twins and both played for the club from the early 1960’s until the early 1970’s.
George who was a “Collingwood 6 footer” standing at about 5 ft 11, was the champion centre half back, whose teammates describe him as having an incredible ability to take pack marks, despite his height. His brother Peter played alongside him at half back, and was more of a running player.
They had an innate ability to find each other on the field by kick or handball. Both players were tough as nails according to their teammates, and you don’t speak to one player from their era who did not put these players on a pedestal, as standout players of their time. George won 3 Best & fairests and Peter one. George once said he won so many runners-up and third B & Fs at the club, that he threw them out years ago, he had so many of them.
Both players played in the 1969 & 1972 premiership teams, and George who still lives in Melbourne is a regular at Past Player days. A loyal Cobra!!!! The Hoskin Bros are shortlisted for our legends team.
