After swallowing the bitter pill from the loss to Emmaus, we had the chance to atone against North Brunswick. In what is a must win all games scenario a home game was quite comforting. A good side was selected and the boys were up for the challenge.

In what was a controlled first quarter we had the run of play and moved the ball from half back with good purpose and direction. The midfield was getting first use and the pressure was right up. Slotting four goals to none was a good result.

The second was more of the same although the bulls had a good period in the middle of the term and put three majors on the board. We managed to steady and held a twenty seven point lead at half time.

It was time to put the foot on the gas. With some clean entry we managed to pile on five goals to one and take a commanding fifty point lead. The three quarter time address was about maintaining the rage. We hadn’t had an opportunity to really put away an opposition side and today was the chance.

The bulls fought back to some extent and we tried to pile it on but just couldn’t quite get the big margin we were after. In saying that a fifty two point victory is not to be sneezed at. The fellas did a great job and the win was the important thing. With a bye this week we need to set ourselves for the unquestionable game of the year, home versus the old foe, Westbourne. In what will no doubt be a who wins will play finals.

Canterbury have notched win number seven for the year after besting North Brunswick by 52 points at Canterbury Sportsground. Charging out the gates with four majors, followed by another three in the second quarter, the Cobras were poised for victory early and held a 27-point margin at the major break. Continuing to build their score in the latter half, thanks to four majors to Nathan Hicks and three to Martin Astbury, the Canterbury side snagged an additional eight goals to put the result beyond doubt. Four individuals contributed to the Bulls 51-point total for the afternoon, including three from Dominick Lo Presti and one to their side’s best, Andrew Ramzy. Thomas Lowden and Rohan Walmsley were standouts for the Cobras in what was their first win since Round 10.
